Why should my class participate in the Science Symposium?
The VINS Science Symposium is our newest program designed to provide an opportunity for Middle Level students and educators to complete scientific research, create hands-on projects, and to present their findings to the community. The centerpiece of the program is a regional symposium where students can present their findings to community members, educators, peers, and statewide stakeholders.
The VINS Science Symposium focuses on providing teachers with resources and the support needed to implement engaging science lessons aligned with the Next Generation Science Standards and Common Core State Standards. The VINS Science Educator acts as a resource for both teachers and students in this program.
The VINS Science Symposium creates deeper understanding and excitement for science, engineering, and the environment through a place based community approach to education. This results in a connection to the natural community which adds depth and relevancy to the students' learning.
