Students will learn through interactive, outdoor activities about the often overlooked but fascinating ways the plants around us survive and thrive. From seeds that migrate huge distances to their new homes, to flowers that attract different pollinators by color--come to VINS to see these super plant powers first hand. VINS’ educators provide expert guidance to help students discover for themselves the complex relationship of plants and the natural world.

Aligned Standards:
Your Day at VINS: Your field trip includes an 80 minute guided program, including an introduction to the topic of Plant Adaptations, an active outdoor activity, an in-depth discussion and investigation and a chance for students to reflect upon what they’ve learned. In addition to your guided lesson you will have the opportunity to experience a live bird presentation, visit our trails and exhibits, and enjoy lunch on our grounds.
Age Ranges: Plant Adaptations: Spikes, Seeds, and Sap is suitable for students in grades K-2 or 3-5. Work with our educators to specify the right combination of in-depth analysis and comparisons for your learners. Your Guide: All VINS educators have extensive experience in environmental education, the natural sciences, and science instruction. Every instructor works with a certified teacher in NH and VT to ensure their content and methods align with the Next Generation Science Standards and the best practices for outdoor education. All instructors are First Aid and CPR certified. |
